About Me

Hello. My name is Nicole Borders and I am the founder of Dyslexia Defined LLC. Ever since 9th grade, I had a desire to work professionally with children. For more than twenty years, I have had the privilege of serving in various educational roles, including public and private school general education teacher, tutor, homeschool mom, 504 coordinator, and dyslexia specialist. 

I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education in 2002, became a Dyslexia Specialist in 2021, and completed a Master of Education with a concentration in Dyslexia & Literacy Intervention in 2024. After completing an intensive training course accredited by the International Multisensory Structured Language Education Council (IMSLEC) and passing the certification exam, I was awarded the Certified Academic Language Therapist (CALT) credential through ALTA. 

As a CALT and Licensed Dyslexia Therapist (LDT), my goal is to support students to their fullest potential. My training and expertise allow me to provide 'gold standard' reading instruction to all students, not just those diagnosed with dyslexia. The most rewarding part of my work is hearing the thoughtful questions my students ask and celebrating their successes. 

In my spare time, I like baking treats, watching theatrical or musical performances, and spending time with my husband and our three children. I look forward to meeting you!
